Ecological effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on the growth of maize

  • Ecological effects of Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF),Glomus mosseae(G.m),Glomus versifome(G.v),Sclerocystis sinousa(S.s) on the growth of maize were investigated on non-fertilizer field in 1996~1998.The results showed that the root vigor of maize plant treated by AMF was 2.32~3.05 times as much as the control. The amount of absorption on N and P was increased by 24.14%~56.65% and 41.14%~78.29%,and the plant growth and development of maize were obviously enhanced. The inoculation with G.m、G.v and S.s could increase the maize yield by 17.63%,22.91% and 10.80% compared with the control in sterilizing soil, and 10.35%,20.56%,4.53% in non-sterilizing soil respectively. The treatment with AMF could obviously improve the condition of water suppliment in maize.
